Mark! I stumbled across this as I was trying to find a picture of you. (Have I ever told you how much I love you?). Anyway, instead of just finding a picture (which I did), I also found this beautiful blog of yours! I love how you love music so much. Keep writing. I love this.

Hey Comet! Yes, I was Whistler in '05 and '07... and probably again somewhere in '09. I've got my AT pics here if you're feeling nostalgic: http://www.flickr.com/photos/marklarson/sets/72157600553114109/

If you have your hike photos up anywhere, I'd love to see them.

It looks like the JFK is up near Maryland, Dave. I'm down here in Atlanta. I think it makes sense to stay local for my first ultra disaster :)

But yes, the trails are calling. They are indeed calling.

Appreciate the review here, Mark. Glad you didn't tackle The Omnivore's Dilemma, which is probably 200% more bloated than this one (which I thought was more readable ... but I didn't finish this one either).

And I really want to like Michael Pollan too ... love the ideas, but would also agree that you can read his articles or find him in radio discussions.

Even more frustrating for me (as a science teacher) is trying to find selections for students to read to get across his basic points. Holy crap ... I tried last year with the above-mentioned book, and I think I had 10 pages with 2-3 lines per page underlined for them to read, then skip on to the next selection.

Yeesh.

I was very close to purchase after seeing Pollan's talk on YouTube and a recent NightLine appearance. Thanks for steering me in the opposite direction.
